China, Brazil, India and Gabon refused to support the US resolution in the UN Security Council

A third of the UN Security Council refused to support the draft resolution against referendums in the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, news agencies report.

Of the 15 members of the Security Council, 10 voted in favor of the draft resolution; China, India, Brazil and Gabon abstained, Russia vetoed the resolution, reports RIA News”.

Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the World Organization, said that the West could not achieve the defeat of Russia in the voting, reports TASS.

India said that “the escalation of rhetoric and tension is in no one’s interest, it is important to find a way to return to negotiations.”

Chinese Ambassador to the UN Zhang Jun said that the UN Security Council should be objective and impartial, and the parties to the conflict should find a way to a diplomatic settlement. The actions of the UN Security Council should be aimed at defusing the situation and resolving the crisis, and not vice versa, the diplomat said.

At the same time, China stated that it stands for respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states and a serious attitude to the legitimate security concerns of all parties in the situation around Ukraine.

On Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin, head of the DPR Denis Pushilin, head of the LPR Leonid Pasechnik, head of the administration of the Zaporozhye region Yevgeny Balitsky and head of the administration of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo signed an agreement on the entry of regions into Russia.

USA endured to vote in the UN Security Council a draft resolution condemning the referendums in the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions on the issue of reunification with Russia.
