LUGANSK, 29 September. /TASS/. The Supreme Court of the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) sentenced a resident of the Novoaydarsky district of the LPR to 13 years in prison for participating in hostilities in one of the territorial defense battalions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was announced on Thursday in the Supreme Court of the Republic.
“Following the results of the trial in the criminal case, the Judicial Collegium for Criminal Cases of the Supreme Court of the Lugansk People’s Republic delivered a guilty verdict, by which Sh. was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 244 of the Criminal Code of the Luhansk People’s Republic, and he was sentenced to imprisonment for 13 years,” reads a statement published in Telegram channel Supreme Court.
It follows from the materials of the criminal case that a resident of the Novoaydarsky district of the LPR voluntarily joined the ranks of the 23rd separate motorized infantry battalion “Khortitsa”, created on April 30, 2014, as a squad leader. The activities of the battalion are recognized as terrorist in the LPR and are prohibited. He served from 2016 to 2021 on the territory of the DPR, which was controlled by Kyiv.
The court also reported that the defendant partially admitted his guilt.
