Kishida continued the negotiating marathon with foreign leaders who came to Abe’s funeral

TOKYO, 27 September. /TASS/. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida began the second day of a negotiating marathon with foreign leaders who arrived in Tokyo for the state funeral of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. As follows from the schedule of the country’s Foreign Ministry, the meeting with the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea James Marape has already begun.

Until 14:00 local time (08:00 Moscow time), when the funeral ceremony begins, meetings with Kishida will also be held by European Council President Charles Michel, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and also former French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi also has a busy agenda, who will meet with Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickramasinghe, as well as colleagues from the UK, the Netherlands, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia during the day.

About 4,300 people, including 700 members of foreign delegations representing 218 countries, territories and international organizations, will attend the state funeral ceremony for Abe.

The Prime Minister of Japan from 26 to 28 September plans to hold a total of about 40 bilateral meetings. The day before, US Vice President Kamala Harris, Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Philippine Vice President Sarah Duterte, Indonesian Vice President Maaruf Amin, as well as representatives of Switzerland, Gabon, Romania, Estonia, and Tanzania have already met with him.

Mikhail Shvydkoi, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation, will participate in the mourning ceremony in Tokyo on behalf of Russia.
