The leader of the rating is still the Norwegian Magnus Carlsen, who has 2856 points. The second place is occupied by the Chinese Ding Liren (2811). Nepomniachtchi’s rating is 2793 points.

Another Russian grandmaster, Sergei Karyakin, who has 2747 points, dropped from 14th to 15th place in the FIDE rating, Alexander Grischuk (2745) remained in 17th position.

Recall that the six-month disqualification of Karyakin due to the publication of an open letter in which he supported Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine expired only on September 22.

In early July, Nepomniachtchi became the winner of the Candidates Tournament for the second time in a row. However, the Norwegian Magnus Carlsen refused the title match, and now in 2023 Nepomniachtchi must play for the world chess crown with Ding Liren, who became the second in the Candidates Tournament.
